Andrew Goodson: 256 Miles, One Goal
For most people, a "holiday" involves a beach and a book. For Andrew Goodson, an Insolvency Practitioner at Griffins, it means 256 miles of canal paths, four days of continuous movement, and a mission to beat the clock.
As discussed on the Insolvency: Dodging Bullets podcast, Andrew is returning to the Thames Ring ultramarathon this week. Having conquered the distance last year, he is back with a ambitious new target: to shave 7.5 hours off his previous finish time.
More Than Just a Race
While Andrew jokes about the "running holiday" and the picturesque views, the drive behind this 256-mile trek is deeply personal. Andrew and his wife, Emma Goodson, are dedicated to raising awareness for Angelman syndrome and fundraising for the charity Tree of Hope to support their son, William. Every mile Andrew runs is inspired by William’s own persistence and progress.
The Journey Ahead
The Support Team: Andrew will be supported along the way by Emma, who will be providing the vital crew assistance needed to survive four days on the trail.
The Checkpoints: He’ll also be looking out for colleague Stephen Hunt, who may or may not be waiting at the 188-mile mark to capture any more of Andrew’s now-famous "checkpoint dancing" on video.
The Finish Line: The race begins at 10:00 am on Wednesday, with the goal of reaching the final checkpoint by Saturday afternoon.
